The Blasting Sands is a quest in Monster Hunter World (MHW) where you face two abnormally powerful Bazelgeuse. This quest is only for those with absolute faith in their abilities. Defeat the two Bazelgeuse to prove you are a true master of the hunt!

All monsters count towards the 15 required to unlock the quest, including monsters that first (or only) appear in High Rank or Master Rank. However, completing both High and Master research for monsters will not grant extra progress towards the 15 needed to unlock the quest. Completing Low Rank research does not count towards progress.

'Beyond the Blasting Scales'

Beyond the Blasting Scales is an assignment quest in Monster Hunter World (MHW). It is a hunting quest, level 9, and is available to those with a Hunter Rank (HR) of 29 or higher. The objective of the quest is to hunt two Bazelgeuse, which are abnormally powerful and tempered, meaning they are more resistant and deal more damage than their normal counterparts.

The Bazelgeuse is a nuisance enemy in the game, known for pestering players by showing up uninvited during high-rank investigations or expeditions. In this quest, players face two of these monsters at once, making it a challenging task. Ranged weapons are useful in this quest as they allow players to attack the Bazelgeuse while remaining relatively safe from their explosive scales. Dung Pods can also be useful to distract the monsters and make the fight easier.

Completing the quest will unlock HR progression to level 30 and above. It also allows players to undertake investigations targeting Threat Level Two Tempered monsters, which include large monsters such as the Azure Rathalos, Black Diablos, Legiana, Odogaron, and more.

In addition, completing "Beyond the Blasting Scales" will grant players access to Warrior's Streamstones, which can be used to augment equipment and increase their level cap. This quest is an important step in the game, providing players with new challenges and opportunities to enhance their gear.

'Horned Tyrant Below the Sands'

"Horned Tyrant Below the Sands" is an assigned quest in the game Monster Hunter World. It is considered one of the toughest quests in the First Wyvern as the monster you are about to hunt, Diablos, will not go down without a fight. Diablos is the most ferocious monster in the First Wyvern and is known for hitting hard. It has massive horns and a large forked tail that will sweep you off your feet if you try to attack it from behind. Its ability to burrow underground and pop right underneath you is also one of its most dangerous skills.

To prepare for this quest, make sure you have a hunter rank of eight and take a good meal before gearing up. The lair of the Diablos is in the north-eastern end of Wildspire Waste in Area 14, but you are likely to find it in Areas 13 and 8. It can also make its way to Area 6, but only during the fight.

When you get to the area, start tracking the beast. Once you find it, you will need to fight it. Despite being a flying Wyvern, it will not fly during the fight. You can block most of its charges if you have a shield and stay near, circling it. Its weak points are the head, which is susceptible to blunt damage, the wings, which are vulnerable to ammo damage, and the belly, which is susceptible to blunt and cut damage.

Diablos is weak against ice elemental attacks and susceptible to the paralysis ailment. It is also weak to weapons made from Legiana parts. Keep these in mind when fighting the monster.

Completing the quest will reward you with 5400z. The time limit for completing the quest is 50 minutes, and you will fail the quest if you faint three times.

'Unlocking the Quest'

To unlock the quest "Beyond the Blasting Scales" in Monster Hunter World, you must have completed the main story and reached Hunter Rank 29 or higher. This quest is the first post-game, tempered monster assignment, where you will face two abnormally powerful Bazelgeuse.

If you have already progressed through the Iceborne campaign without completing this quest, you may find that it has been automatically completed for you, and it should appear in your completed quest list. If you are unable to find it on the Master Rank-Quests board, try checking the Low Rank/High Rank quest board instead.

Completing "Beyond the Blasting Scales" will unlock the HR progression to level 30 and above. It will also allow you to undertake investigations targeting Threat Level Two Tempered monsters, which includes large monsters such as Azure Rathalos, Black Diablos, Legiana, Odogaron, and more.

'Tempered Monsters'

Tempered Monsters are even more powerful versions of high-rank monsters in Monster Hunter World. They are harder to kill and require more preparation to get the chance to hunt them. They are the hardest monsters to defeat in the game, with increased difficulty beyond the high-rank default.

Tempered Monsters are unlocked through investigations. You can identify an investigation for a Tempered Monster by the purple outline and the purple question mark denoting extra investigation rewards. These rewards are always Decorations or Streamstones, which are used for Augmentation.

Defeating Tempered Monsters is the best way to acquire Decorations, and they are the only way to find Streamstones, which can augment your armour.

To unlock Tempered Monsters, you must begin searching for Elder Dragon tracks. You may come across odd tracks that also turn your scoutflies blue. The monster in question will be outlined in purple. Collect enough of these tracks, and you will unlock an investigation for a Tempered Monster at the Resource Centre. Breaking parts and hunting tempered monsters will also increase the chances of unlocking more investigations.

There are three Threat Levels of Tempered Monsters:

• Threat Level 1: Pukei-Pukei, Tobi-Kadachi, Anjanath, Barroth, Jyuratodus, Rathian, Paolumu, and Radobaan.
• Threat Level 2: Rathalos, Azure Rathalos, Pink Rathian, Diablos, Black Diablos, Bazelgeuse, Uragaan, Lavasioth, Legiana, and Odogaron.
• Threat Level 3: Kirin, Teostra, Kushala Daora, Nergigante, and Vaal Hazak.

Some monsters do not have a tempered variant, including Great Jagras, Kulu-Ya-Ku, Tzitzi-Ya-Ku, Great Girros, Dodogama, Zorah Magdaros, and Xeno'jiiva.

To find Tempered Monster tracks, it is recommended to craft Hunter's Headgear Alpha, for its skills, Scholar and Scoutfly Range Up. These will help you find tracks faster and unlock investigations more quickly. Some tempered monster tracks will always spawn in certain places, however, only half can spawn at a time. There are simple paths to follow in the Wildspire Waste to collect Threat Level 1 tracks and a path in the Coral Highlands for Threat Level 2.
