#event #power #sustainable #help There’s several complex issues in this Rolling Stone article. The one I wanted to drill down into is the 3 tragic deaths from Carbon Monoxide poisoning. With some help from friends in Green and large scale event electrics. Here’s my question, what ticket $ premium would cover temporary electric and allow a camping festival to ban small generators? Sustainable power could be a upgrade option. So quick back-of-the-envelope-math (Richard Cadena Stephen Collum Neel Vasavada help me out) Micro-grids comprised of 50KW generator paired with 50KW ESS (big stored energy units/battery reduce fuel by 70% and can be programmed to be battery only/silent at night) would have wholesale cost of approx $200 for 20amp service and $700 for 50A maniacs (I’ve skewed costs to be lower for effecient 20amp sites to be supplemented by higher energy users) thanks Stephen at Sunbelt for some rough numbers and context (the scale of some festivals is 7500+ powered camper slots, and not many temp power companies in USA can provide more than 2500 - a whole other convo about big picture sustainabilty/safety/accessibility/community engagement ie: Majestic’s Four Pillars) Environmentally its way cleaner and quieter than little generators running on their own fuel. Harm reduction (even if not perfect, diesel is a bummer, but this is way more efficient than many little ones) for everyone? (modifications needed for RV plugs to be added to standard “turtles”). 800 ft.² camping plots would be fine with this robust “shore power” no need for small generators, so some saving from higher density than 1200 ft.² As an Art of Mass Gathetherings demo at Civic Center Conservancy we shore powered food truck festival here https://lnkd.in/gpFMYJiv THE SILENCE (and no smell) was amazing. Toronto's spring brings more than just warm breezes and blooming flowers. It heralds a season of celebration, where music and floral festooned streets can boost not only our spirits but also the allure of our city's neighborhoods – a key ingredient for real estate vibrancy. 🎵🌸Let's talk about living spaces. A home is more than walls and a roof - it’s about the community, the events, and the life that breathes into every corner. That's why events like springtime music and flower festivals in Toronto are more than just a day out; they are an opportunity to revel in the communities our clients look to join.To my clients, often looking for that perfect home to accommodate a growing family, consider this:🏡 Proximity to Festivals: Homes near vibrant cultural events enjoy a unique charm (and often, increased value).🎶 Community Bonding: Events like these are where memories are made – a perfect gymnasium for the soul of a family.💐 Safe and Scenic: Neighborhoods celebrating such festivals speak of a community invested in beauty and safety - two non-negotiables for any family-oriented homebuyer. And to my peers in the real estate industry, let's highlight not just the square footage but the life square, where those feet will tread - the festivals, the parks, the community heartbeat. So, share with me, what's your go-to spring event in Toronto? How does it enhance the story of the homes we cherish and share?#TorontoRealEstate #FamilyHomes #CommunityLiving #SpringFestivals 👇 Drop your favorite event and its impact on community spirit below! 👇Let's weave the cultural tapestry of our listings to match the vibrant life our clients are yearning for! 🌻🏡🎉

Some interesting thoughts here from Kevin on the potential tensions between locals and diversifying landowners. The original Vice article that Kevin's post is based on, looks more at land reform and the alleged iniquities of landed estates profiting from music festivals. Although its slant is one that many would not share, both pieces are well worth reading.

My latest for U.S. trade VenuesNow (Pollstar's sister pub). Over the past two decades, The Drake Underground has hosted shows by Billie Eilish, Beck, Leon Bridges, Martha Wainwright, Slowdive’s Neil Halstead, Brent Faiyaz, and Toronto’s Metric, Peaches, Broken Social Scene, and Skratch Bastid — in all, an estimated 4,000 shows, about 200 a year, to this day. #livemusic #musicindustry #musicindustrynews #livemusicindustry #musicbusinessnews

Are you a professional performer? If yes, you have a unique platform to inspire and influence your audience. With great power comes great responsibility, and one of the most pressing issues of our time is sustainability. As performers, we often travel and tour extensively, which can have a significant impact on the environment. However, by making sustainable choices, we can minimize our carbon footprint and inspire our fans to do the same.Traveling and touring sustainably means choosing eco-friendly transportation options, such as trains or electric vehicles, staying in accommodations that prioritize sustainability, and supporting local businesses that share our values. But our responsibility doesn't end there. We can also use our platform to promote sustainability and inspire our fans to take action. Encourage your audience to carpool or use public transportation to attend your concerts and festivals. Offer incentives for sustainable behavior, such as discounted tickets for those who bring their own reusable water bottles or use eco-friendly transportation. There are many ways we can become creative to incentivize sustainable choices! By using our influence in a responsible way, we can create a ripple effect of positive change. Let's lead by example and inspire future generations to prioritize sustainability: https://lnkd.in/g2KPjQq6#sustainability #performingarts #ecofriendly #responsibletravel #climateaction #music #performance

Have you heard… Massive Attack will play a low carbon homecoming gig in Bristol next year! 🌱 As audience travel is the largest contributor to an outdoor event’s carbon footprint, there will be local priority access and incentives to travel by train, including electric shuttle buses to take rail users to the venue. 🌱 The concert’s production, catering and lighting, will be powered entirely by battery and solar power.🌱 They will prioritise meat-free food and drink traders who can show they buy their products locally.🌱 All vehicles used for the concert will either be electric or fuelled by certified waste product HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) fuel.Founder member Robert '3D' Del Naja said: "Working with pioneering partners on this project means we can seriously move the dial for major live music events and help create precedents."💚 It is possible to create lower carbon events without missing out on any of the fun! See our net zero guide to sustainable events here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dD6pvcRg#ecoevents #cutcarbon #reducewaste #bristol #sustainableevents
